One of the most important decisions you will make as you start your flying career is your choice of flight schools and a flight instructor. This choice is the start of a long relationship and in most cases, develops into strong friendships which last a lifetime. We encourage you to 'shop around' and we are comfortable that you will find that we have a lot to offer you. | |||||||||||||

Testimonials Why do I do business with Classic? First - On September 7, 2003, another lovely Sunday afternoon, and at the urging of my wife and children, I drove to Addison airport to "go flying" for the first time since 1972. I looked in the Yellow Pages and saw the Classic ad. I can't remember exactly why I chose that. Fate, I guess. After conducting my best "FAA surprise facility inspection" with the unsuspecting and somewhat nervous owner, a young man named Josh took me for a "discovery flight" in a Cessna 172 N8971V. Second - I interviewed all the flight schools at Addison (twice) and after due consideration decided to fly with Classic. Turned out that I sort of had a history with Classic. My original flight instruction was at Bert (Burt??) Corey's Airport Flying School at Highland Park Airport in 1962. When HP closed, Corey moved to Addison and operated the facility that eventually became Classic Aviation. Third - Classic had very recently been acquired by Cassie Green. Classic is not some branch or franchise operation of a national company, but locally owned and operated by someone who had the guts to acquire a business and try to make it grow and prosper. Since 1965, I have founded or co-founded and operated several small businesses, some successful and some not, and I greatly admire and want to support someone who is doing the same. Fourth - No business, large or small, can be all things to all people. No business can do everything that every customer or supplier or employee wants it to. However, I think that Cassie Green has done, and continues to do, more than most owners in attempting to give everyone connected with Classic Aviation as much as she can. Cassie Green is a "hands on" owner and manager and I believe she truly cares about quality, not just quantity, in the operation. In the past year and a half, I have interfaced with most of Classic's employees and a number of its customers. I have always heard good words and appreciation from everyone, especially about the owner. Fifth - I appreciate the way the aircraft are maintained. Given the hard use any flying school gives its aircraft, I think Classic does a pretty good job. I also like the web based scheduling system. Sixth - I live in University Park and except at rush hour, I can drive the North Dallas Toll Road from my house to Classic in about 15 minutes. Summary - history, local "hands on" management and ownership, commitment to quality, and convenience of location. -Glenn Wiggins |
